Tabor Tale

For the past 27 years, we have approached life as an adventure! While Gayle likes to share those adventures on social media (Facebook mostly, but also TikTok and insta) we thought it would be fun to begin a blog to share more in-depth about our adventures.

Here’s a bit about us:

Gayle is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. As a church planter, Gayle is currently establishing a new faith community, SALT Inclusive Methodist Community, in Wilmington, NC. After a successful career as a paralegal and marketing professional, Gayle earned an MDiv later in life, showing that it’s never too late to follow your calling. An award-winning evangelist, Gayle was honored with the Harry Denman Evangelism Award by the NC Conference of the UMC in 2022. Gayle is the director of Cape Fear Beer and Hymns, leads Church At The Boardwalk, a beachside service during the summer in Carolina Beach, NC. And leads Church on Tap. You can listen to Gayle’s podcast at unbound.love and Barstool Musings. Or join with Gayle at Pub Pastor online.

Gayle is an avid Jeeper who, when not immersed in ministry, you’ll find cheering for the Chicago Cubs, building intricate Lego creations, rescuing Dalmatians, advocating for sea turtles, or hitting the road on a bike or the waterways in a kayak.

Jenn is a passionate educator with a master’s degree in chemistry. She teaches high school chemistry at Wilmington Early College, where her dedication to teaching earned her the title of Teacher of the Year for the 2022/23 school year. Jenn is also a National Geographic certified teacher, bringing a unique perspective to her classroom by integrating global and environmental awareness into her lessons.

Beyond the classroom, Jenn is an active member of the Cape Fear community. For over a decade, she has been a devoted member of the Cape Fear Chorale. Jenn’s love for music extends further as she formed a ukulele band and co-leads the monthly Cape Fear Beer and Hymns, combining her love for music and community.

An avid reader and e-bike enthusiast, Jenn is always seeking new challenges and opportunities to step out of her comfort zone. This spring, she hopes to begin pursuing her EdD at University South Carolina, continuing her journey of lifelong learning and educational leadership.

Goose is a lovable dalmatian who is afraid of, well, everything. Ryker Grayson, call sign Goose, was rescued by Gayle and Jenn in 2023. They’ve spent many hours in training as Goose adjusts to life in a stable home where he is loved beyond measure.
